Every year Taipei 101 draws a huge crowd for New Year’s Eve celebrations. The super high-rise is turned into a towering inferno of beautiful lights and amazing choreography that matches the likes of  New York, Hong Kong and Sydney.

Couple this spectacle with Taiwan’s enthusiasm for photography and we end up with a wardrobe full of amazing images. Here we take a look at the best 2018 New Year’s Eve celebration photos of Taipei 101.

#1 ygt1016

Ygt1016’s photo pretty much sums up the magnitude of Taipei’s fireworks. Able to be seen from all across Taipei City, Taipei 101’s fireworks rival that of the world’s best.

#2 anan_210

Anan_210 managed to catch some great closeups showing the beautiful colours and amount of detail that goes into the show. If you’re not deterred by the loud noises and bright lights, getting up close and personal to Taipei 101 is the best way to enjoy the show.

Y9uuuuuu captures fascinating images of the life in Taipei and this one is a testament to his skill. We weren’t blessed with the clearest of nights at the end of 2019 but y9uuuuuu still managed to carve out a beautiful landscape shot showing Taipei City’s beauty.

The perfect location and a little bit of photoshop magic resulted in omg.wp’s “2019 crazy new year” photo. For those wondering, the left building facade has been photoshopped in.

#5 stanley_pic

It turns out some were lucky enough to find places to view the fireworks that wasn’t completely overrun with people. Stanley_pic’s avoided the crowd to show a more intimate side to the firework display.

Not only do #5 and #6 come after each other, but stanley_pic and jacqueline_1116 are also a photography duo. So it’s fitting that jacqueline_1116 managed to capture what is perhaps Taipei’s most romantic New Year’s Eve celebration photo of 2018.

#10 tw.hc_

You have to give tw.hc_ credit, he wasn’t going to bother getting caught up in the congestion to get the perfect photo location. Instead he sat back in a rather discrete and less crowded spot. But that didn’t stop him from capturing an amazing image. Tw.hc_’s photo is a TM favourite because of how much is captured in the composition.
