This is our weekly pick of things to do and see in Taiwan, May 13 – 19. With a successful conclusion of the 2019 Hakka Tung Blossom Festival last weekend, we are install for another full week of great activities.
For those living in or visiting Penghu in the coming month, the 2019 Penghu Firework Festival is underway, April 18 to June 27. Fireworks will be held every Monday and Thursday at the Penghu Guanyin Temple.

Fermin Muguruza is a legendary ska punk singer from the Basque Countries of Spain, dating back to the 1980s and his first band, Kortatu. In 2003, he joined Manu Chao, one of his best friends, for the Jai Alai Katumbi Express world tour. Enjoy his mixing ska, punk, reggae and the music and language of his native Basque culture with local Balkan ska favorites Balkazar.

The story of The Bread Factory, a community arts center in the small town of Checkford, told in two films
After 40 years of running The Bread Factory, Dorothea and Greta must suddenly fight for survival when a celebrity couple – performance artists from China – arrive Checkford and build their own enormous arts complex just down the street. It’s a huge upheaval in their small town.
A Bread Factory, co-starring James Marsters – The Official Page and Janet Hsieh, will be premiering at Urban Nomad, with director Patrick Wang in attendance.
